CaReS celebrates Buwan ng Wika

August 25, 2014, the CaRes community celebrated Buwan ng Wika with the theme, Filipino: Wika ng Pagkakaisa. Professor Angelito “Joy” Gutierez and the batch Believers organized this year’s event.

The weeklong event saw the celebration of the mass in dialects such as tagalog, ilokano, cebuano, and hiligaynon/ilonggo to highlight the power of language to unite amidst diversity.

Various activities were organized for the opening day. The seminarians were distributed into different groups for the said event on which they were to represent – Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and Global Pinoy. The five groups played different games like Hulihan ng manok, Agawan ng buko, Hulihan ng hito and Kadang-Kadang while the annual “Lutong Pinoy” happened simultaneously. The day’s event was capped by the presentation of the candidates for the “Ginoong Buwan ng Wika”. Bros. James Esplanada- Luzon, Victor Catacutan- Visayas, Emmanuel Montances- Mindanao, and Earl Blaza- Global Pinoy introduced themselves while wearing their unique costumes.

On the third day, August 27, 2014, the candidates of the Ginoong Buwan ng Wika showed their talents to the community. Bro Esplanada from the Luzon group exhibited his talent in drawing. Bro. Catacutan from the Visayas and Bro. Montances from the mindanao group showed their aptitude for acting. Lastly Bro. Blaza from the Global Pinoy group bared his vocal prowess. After the showcase of talents, each group unveiled their “Sagisag” that represented them accordingly.

August 29, 2014 was dubbed “Gabi ng Musikang Pinoy”. It was highlighted by songs popularized in the different regions of the Philippines.

The culminating program was held on August 30, 2014. The affair saw each group presenting their “tunog-tao” and also the awarding of winners. Runner-up awards were given to Bro. Earl Blaza from global pinoy, Bro. Emmanuel Montances from Mindanao Bro. James Esplanada from the Luzon group while Bro. Neil Victor Catacutan was declared the Ginoong Buwan ng Wika 2014.
